Frequently Asked Questions
How does this calculator work?
Select your hole cards and any known board cards. The calculator runs 50,000 Monte Carlo simulations — each time dealing a random opponent hand and completing the board — then counts how often you win, lose, or tie.
How accurate is 50,000 simulations?
Very accurate. With 50K hands, equity estimates are typically within ±0.3% of exact values. For practical decision-making, this is more than sufficient.
What does equity mean?
Equity is your share of the pot based on your probability of winning. If you have 60% equity and the pot is $100, your equity is $60. Compare this to what you need to invest (pot odds) to decide whether to call, raise, or fold.
Can I add more than one opponent?
This version simulates against a single random opponent, which is the most common use case for preflop and postflop decisions. Multi-way equity requires significantly more computation and is planned for a future update.
Visual Poker Odds Calculator
This poker odds calculator features a visual card picker — click to select your hole cards and board cards, then run a 50,000-hand Monte Carlo simulation to see your exact win, lose, and tie equity against a random opponent.
Why Monte Carlo?
With 5 community cards and 2 opponent cards to deal, there are millions of possible outcomes. Monte Carlo sampling provides near-exact results in milliseconds by testing a large random subset of all possibilities.
