Frequently Asked Questions
What are American odds?
American (moneyline) odds use + and − notation. Positive odds (+150) show your profit on a $100 stake. Negative odds (−200) show the stake needed to profit $100. They're the default format at US sportsbooks.
What are decimal odds?
Decimal odds represent your total return (stake + profit) per dollar wagered. Odds of 2.50 mean a $100 bet returns $250 total ($150 profit + $100 stake). They're the standard in Europe, Australia, and most international betting sites.
What is implied probability?
Implied probability is the win percentage the odds suggest. It tells you how often a bet needs to win to break even at those odds. Compare it to your own estimated probability — if you think the true probability is higher, the bet has positive expected value.
What is the vig (juice)?
The vig is the bookmaker's margin, built into the odds. If both sides of a bet are −110, the implied probabilities sum to 104.8% instead of 100%. That extra 4.8% is the bookmaker's edge — their profit regardless of who wins.
